Yu is very close to Tamajimaru, the local mascot of his hometown and fervent Matenrou Opera fan.
He has been close with Sono since high school and joined him in the band Gride. When Gride disbanded, he was support drummer for Sono's next band, Jeniva, and together they created the band Matenrou Opera.
